Main research activities


@ XLDB (since Dec. 2008): Opinion mining in the social web, by combining text mining and machine learning techniques with fine-grained linguistic resources.

@ Linguateca (Dec. 2007 - Nov. 2008): Evaluation of NLP systems. Co-organization of national and international joint-evaluations, namely HAREM 2008 (an evaluation contest for named entity recognition in Portuguese) and GeoCLEF 2008 (a track of the Cross Language Evaluation Forum for geographic information retrieval).

@ Logos Corporation, USA (Sep. 1999 - Feb. 2000): Development of linguistic resources for Portuguese-English Machine Translation.

@ LabEL (1998-2004), CAUTL/IST: Development of large-scale and fine-grained lexicons of multiword expressions for Portuguese. Design and implementation of local grammars for ambiguity resolution and parsing, using finite-state techniques.
